Common Questions
FMCSA Clearinghouse Setup FAQs
Does FMCSA charge a fee to register for the Clearinghouse?
No. FMCSA does not charge a registration fee. Employers may be charged by FMCSA for query plans. BUnited’s $100 charge is for professional, hands-on setup assistance provided by an independent third-party compliance company.
What does the $100 setup service include?
It includes guidance with account access, role selection, connecting applicable company information, C/TPA designation when applicable, and a basic review of the setup steps completed during the assistance session.
Do owner-operators need to designate a C/TPA?
Owner-operators subject to FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements must designate a C/TPA in the Clearinghouse. We can guide you through the designation process.
Is Drug and Alcohol Consortium enrollment included?
No. Standalone Clearinghouse setup does not include ongoing consortium enrollment or testing. Choose the $249 annual program if you need Clearinghouse assistance and BUnited’s Drug and Alcohol Consortium.
Will I have to share my Login.gov password?
No. Do not send your Login.gov password or private verification codes to BUnited Services. You must complete identity verification and secure login actions yourself.
What if I already paid another company for setup?
Contact us before purchasing again. We can discuss what you received and help identify whether additional setup assistance may be needed.
Does setup assistance guarantee compliance?
No. Account setup is only one part of an employer’s responsibilities. The employer remains responsible for meeting all applicable FMCSA drug and alcohol testing and Clearinghouse requirements.
Independent third-party disclosure: BUnited Services is a private compliance company and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or the United States government. The $100 fee is for professional assistance and is not an FMCSA registration fee. FMCSA query fees and other third-party charges are separate.
